The name Purple Elephant Cake was inspired by cake designer Jin's daughter, Annie (4 yrs old then), and her fascination with purple elephants. Annie insisted her mom use the name for her cake shop, and because it was unique and catchy, the decision was sealed. The whimsical image of a Purple Elephant Cake felt like the perfect symbol of the spirit that gave rise to this venture. Whimsical, playful, colorful, vibrant, young and cheerful are the qualities we want our brand, Purple Elephant Cake, to represent.
Jin is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute. She spent years perfecting her pastry skills at Café boulud, Spice Market, Morimoto, Gilt at Palace hotel and Morgan hotel group in New York, working under
award-winning pastry chefs.
